OP06 Purple (Shanks) Deck Profile

With the new FILM cards in OP06 set, I've decided to revive Shanks. I personally think Shanks have a very powerful effect, but FILM cards doesn't have enough ramp to back him up, so making Shanks used less. Although if we can spam the board, Shanks can become very deadly against your opponents. We do have ways to recycle the cards so we can use those cards again against your opponents.

Ramp

We do heavily focus on ramp as Shanks Leader will need to use 3 DONs, and 3 DONs is a lot if you can't recover the DONs fast enough. But we also got plenty of cards that return DONs back to deck, so not only the Leader who will be using those DONs. OP05 Zala works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand to add 1 DON as rest. The Trigger effect is by returning 1 DON, play this card. You will not gain a DON or lose a DON if you use this effect, but it will mean we would have an extra beat stick on the field. Zala is also a 2k counter card that can be used during the counter step.

OP05 Kid is a Blocker with an effect that works during your turn and only once per turn. When a DON on your field is returned, add 1 DON as rest. This is important as we will be returning a lot of DONs back to the deck with this build, so we need Kid in play to reduce the DONs as much as possible, so we will have enough DONs to play other Characters from our hand.

Uta is a Promo and a very important promo for FILM since we lack ramp cards in the FILM card pool, which is why FILM with ramp will definitely help the deck. The effect is very simple, on play, add 1 DON as rest. Uta does cost you 5 DONs to play but we do have a cheaper version of this card with the exact same effect.

Ain is the card that has the same effect as promo Uta and she comes in the FILM starter deck. But both cards are beat stick as their power will be enough to hit some magic numbers against your opponents, especially with the added bonus of Shanks Leader. As well as both of these cards are FILM type which is important if we want the power to swing at your opponent's Leader.

Jet Gatling is the only Event in the deck as we want something that can suit FILM style. However to get the ramp, this needs to be in your Life to work as the ramp is a Trigger effect. The Trigger effect is add 1 DON as active. This is optional if you need the ramp or not. The Counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader/Character gains 3k power this battle. This is quite handy as we do have a few non Counter cards in this build.

Removals

For removals we are not running a lot, especially when FILM doesn't really have any good removal options to use in the deck. Luckily we do have Z Navy as a FILM card, otherwise, we will need to cards like ST04 Kaido for extra removal against your opponent's Characters. Z Navy works on play, by returning 1 DON, you can negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters this turn, then if that Character has 5k power or less, KO it. This will bypass some Characters that prevent them from KOing, or removing that continuous power bonus, so they will got back to 5k or lower.

ST04 Kaido is simple, on play, by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. This Character gains Rush this turn. It is not the removal that makes this card good, it is the addition Rush ability that makes this card amazing. Being a 9 drop 10k beat stick means we can potential remove 2 of your opponent's Characters in one turn, which is what I like, since reducing their numbers means less counters and blockers needed to stop their attacks, unless those Characters have Rush.

Blockers

There are three more Blockers in this deck as we want to stall for time. Unfortunately I am not running ST04 Queen in this build who would provide excellent draw power for the deck. I am focus more on FILM cards as they are more easier to search than Queen. OP06 Shiki only has an on play effect. If you have 8 or more DONs on your field, draw 1 card and trash 1 card from your hand. This is just a hand filter if you have 8 or more DONs, but if you don't need the effect, then you can play Shiki early for 2 DONs.

ST05 Uta works on block, by returning 1 DON, rest 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Uta will basically stops 2 of your opponent's attacks with one block, but that is only if those Characters are 5 cost or lower. However, she can also rest your opponent's Blockers, assuming your opponents have those cards in play, ready to attack those Blockers on your turn.

ST10 Law only has an on play effect, by returning 1 DON, if your opponent has 7 or more cards in their hand, trash 2 cards from your opponent's hand. Personally I think in this meta, opponents can get a lot of cards in their hand thanks to all the searching and drawing cards which is why Law is great to reduce those cards hand size.

FILM Supports

For the rest of the FILM supports these cards are needed. Starting with OP02 Shiki who is a vanilla on the field with a Trigger effect. By returning 1 DON, play this card. The effect might be weak since we have a 3k beat stick, but we have Shanks who can make Shiki hit magic numbers. Although if you don't want to use Shiki's effect, then it is perfectly fine to get him in your hand so you can use his 2k counter during the counter step.

OP06 Tesoro can recycle FILM cards from your trash. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, if your Leader is FILM type, add up to two 4 cost or less FILM type Characters from your trash to your hand. This is important as we could recycle the FILM Blockers, especially Uta so we can play those Blockers again and stop your opponent's attacks. You could also recycle your searchers so we could search for more FILM cards again.

Festa is the FILM searcher. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 FILM card other than Festa and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This card will let you search for some of the main FILM cards in the deck, so we could get the deck going and start pushing for final attacks with Shanks Leader effect.

Deck List

OP06 Shanks

Explanation

I've tried to keep this mostly FILM cards because of Shanks, but we do need non FILM cards in the build to make it work. Personally the timing of using Shanks will be important, because if you constantly spam Shanks's effect, you will lose DONs very quickly and won't be able to play big drop Characters easily. We do have the ramp in the build, but returning 3 DONs can be huge especially if we can't ramp fast enough.

What I would mainly do is filled the field up first, then use Shanks Leader to power up the FILM Characters. But that is only if my opponents are at 2-1 Life, so on my next turn, they would have use quite a bit of resources just to stop some big hitters. Of course, it does means the rested Characters will be targeted for attacks, which I why we need Blockers to stop those attacks from hitting your Characters.

But if you got 9 drop Kaido in your hand, then I wouldn't recommend using Shanks until you play Kaido as he is very important in removing your opponent's Characters, plus you also return 5 DONs for the effect which is a lot of DONs that need recovering. Although I would definitely prefer 10k beat stick on the field over low power FILM Characters as Kaido will be harder to remove without hitting enough power.
