OP06 Blue/Purple (Kaido) Deck Profile

When I was building Purple Kaido deck using OP06 stuff, it gave me an idea to try and use a similar engine for Blurple Kaido deck. Personally I think having access to Blue can really help the deck especially getting the key cards we need. Plus we have more ramp thanks to Kaido's Leader effect, so we can easily recover the amount of DONs we loses from using card's effects. However, this might be a long post as I've tried to fit as much as possible in a 50 card deck, so if you don't care about the reading, just scroll all the way down.

Ramp

I am not running a lot of ramp cards in this build as we could utilise Kaido's Leader effect as long as we give him a DON. Plus, I really doubt that we couldn't KO your opponent's Characters, unless they are playing like Nami deck where they focus more on Events in hand rather than Characters on the field. OP06 Kid is a Blocker with an effect that works on your turn and only once per turn. When a DON is returned, add 1 DON as active. We will have plenty of cards that will be returning a lot of DONs back to the deck, so we can easily trigger Kid's effect.

The only ramp effect that comes from Jet Gatling is the Trigger effect. The Trigger effect is simply add 1 DON as active. Now it is up to you if you want to trigger this effect or not as the counter effect can be handy especially when we are running a lot of high cost cards in the build. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader/Characters gain 3k power during this battle. The 3k counter will come in handy when you need it.

Lastly the main card of the deck who is a stage card, Onigashima Island. Onigashima effect is very simple, you may rest this Stage, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates type, add 1 DON as rest. Seeing Onigashima in your opening hand will be a great help when you play your cards that returns DONs. But even if you couldn't we have access to the blue 1 drop cards like Kaya and Who's Who's who are able to search the stage to your hand.

Removals

Nothing better than having these removals being able to remove your opponent's Characters with ease and triggering the Leader's effect for the ramp. OP01 Kaido is a board wipe. Plus costing 10 to play means you won't be able to give a DON to your Leader. The on play effect is by returning 6 DONs, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates type, KO all Characters other than this card. You will also lose your own Characters, so you will need to attack your opponents first before playing this card to board wipe the field, unless you don't have any beat sticks on the field.

I'm just going to call Zephyr(Navy), Z(Navy) instead and I think the JP name is just Z if I remembered, but who knows, they might have changed the name. Anyway the effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters this turn, then if that Character has 5k power or less, KO it. Thanks to this card we can easily bypass the 4 drop Kizaru, I think the official name is Borsalino, but Kizaru is shorter who have the unable to KO by effects.

Then one of my favourite card for Animal Kingdom Pirates deck, ST04 Kaido. Although ST04 Kaido can be used in other builds if they have the ramp, otherwise, he will be used in this type of specific build. The on play effect is by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less. Then this card gains Rush. So not only we are able to KO your opponent's Characters, but the Rush ability means we can attack as soon as Kaido hits the field. Plus being a 9 drop means we can give 1 DON to the Leader, then play this card so we could get that little ramp when we remove your opponent's Characters.

Affecting Opponent's Hand

Here we have 3 cards that will affect your opponent's hand. Two of these cards are hand destruction whilst the other forces your opponents to mulligan. OP01 X Drake is very simple. On play, by returning 1 DON, your opponent trashes 1 card from their hand. It does cost you 5 DONs, but having a 5k beat stick and trashing your opponent's hand is worth the cost. Although even if you are not using Drake, he does have a 2k counter to protect your Leader/Characters.

OP06 Pudding is only useful if your opponents have some major draw power, so their hand size gets so big thanks to the search and draw effects. This is where Pudding kicks in for the deck. On play, your opponent returns all cards in their hand to their deck and shuffles their deck. Then, your opponent draws 5 cards. Obviously, we really wouldn't use Pudding if they have 4 or less cards in their hand, because that is just giving them 1 more card, and you will be wasting 4 DONs for this. But if they have like 6-7 cards in hand then Pudding will become really effective.

ST10 Law is another hand destruction card, but also a 4 drop Blocker to stop your opponent's attacks. On play, by returning 1 DON, if your opponent has 7 or more cards in their hand, trash 2 cards from your opponent's hand. Law is mainly used early for the trash effect as during the late game, your opponents won't be getting as much hand size. This is where X Drake kicks in if you want the late game hand destructions to reduce the amount of cards in your opponent's hand.

Draw Power

Now we talk about the draw power of the deck and 3 of these cards can increase your hand size whilst one of them is just a hand filter. The hand filter card is Kaya, Kaya works on play, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards from hand. I think she's very good in your opening hand as you need to search out one of the key card Onigashima. Plus she is also a 2k counter, so if you don't need to use her effect, the 2k counter will come in handy during the counter step.

I am running 3 different version of Kaido, and they are all high costs version. Then again, I don't think there is a low cost version of Kaido current. Anyway, OP05 Kaido works on play, draw 4 cards if your opponent has 3 or less Life. 3 or less Life is very easy to do, but it is paying the full 10 cost to draw 4, at that stage, you might prefer to use something else instead. But I guess in return, we have a 12k beat stick on the field.

The 4 drop Reiju, but honestly, you could run OP03 Kalifa if you do not like Reiju. We can burn up a lot of DONs if we get the cards, but at the same time we also got the ramp to recover the lost DONs, so triggering Reiju might be a little bit harder in this build. The effect works on play, if the number of DONs on your field is equal or less than your opponents and you have 5 or less cards in your hand, draw 2 cards. She is very effective when both players have 10 DONs, so you could play Reiju for 4 to draw 2 cards instead of paying the 10 cost for Kaido to draw 4 cards. But each cards will have their own uses in the deck.

Now we move on to ST04 Queen because he's an Animal Kingdom Pirates so searching Queen will be very easy as well as being a 6k Blocker like Kid. But most importantly it is his on play effect that does the job. On play, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card. I do prefer this effect over Kaya, but Kaya is a cheap cost compare to Queen's 5 cost. But at least Queen will be able to +1 in your hand, might be handy, might be not, really depends on what you need.

Animal Kingdom Pirates Support

Well the rest of the support for Animal Kingdom Pirates are very obvious, with the first one being OP04 Who's Who. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Animal Kingdom Pirates type other than Who's Who and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Who's Who is a card I would rather have in my opening hand than Kaya as he will be able to search for Onigashima to start the ramp rather than searching through the deck.

ST04 Ulti is like ST04 Queen being a staple card in this build so we can spam the field. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, play up to one 4 cost or less Page One card from your hand. The Page One we are running is definitely the 6k beat stick vanilla so we could hit over 5k power and forces your opponents to use 2k counters to protect their Leader/Characters. Plus Ulti also have 2k counter, so if you don't need her effect since you couldn't draw Page One, then you might as well use her for counters during the counter step.

Deck List

OP06 Kaido

Explanation

Thanks to cards like Kaya and Who's Who we can burn through our deck very quickly to search out some of the card cards in this build, especially Onigashima to start ramping the deck. We do have our Leader who can provide the ramp as long as you can constantly remove your opponent's Characters, this is either by attacking or by using the effects which put some pressure for your opponents. This is why I am not running many ramp cards as we can constantly use the Leader.

But this build is very similar to Purple Kaido build where you have access to spam, removals, hand destructions, draw power and ramp. But most importantly for me is the search effect that will be important as they will help me search for Ulti + Page One combo to fill up the board with ease. Although for this build you do have 3 different Kaidos in the build and they are major beat sticks if you can get them in play, forcing your opponents to try and remove them or else they would need to use up their Blockers and Counters.
