Budget Deck Profile - Red/Yellow (Belo Betty) Post OP06

In my honest opinion, Belo Betty is still one of the best budget decks to build as the cards are cheap, but it is al about mastering the deck style as this build has a major drawback which is lack of hand size. This build will not hurt your wallet at all, but it is all about finding the cards for the deck since One Piece Card Game tends to have problems with finding cards you need especially Starter Deck cards, but lucky for this build, you do not need any starter deck cards to make this work, which is why I think this is the best budget decks to build for newcomers.

Power Reducer

Starting off with one of the red style, reducing your opponent's power so our Characters can hit those cards much more easier which is not bad for a budget build. Karasu have two effects. The first effect works on play, if your Leader is Revolutionary Army type, reduce 1 of your opponent's Leader/Characters power by 1k power this turn. The second effect is pretty much the same as the on play effect except, it works when attacking. If this Character has 7k or more power, reduce 1 of your opponent's Leader/Characters power by 1k power this turn. So if you got 2 Karasu in play, you will be able to reduce your opponent's Leader by 2k, and since Belo Betty powers up your Characters, they can easily hit some deadly numbers.

Koala is the only Super Rare you need, and she is not expensive to get unless Dragon Leader is a game changer for Revolutionary Army builds, raising the price of Koala dramatically for OP08 release. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Revolutionary Army type, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 3k this turn. Not to mention, Koala has 2k counter, and for a low hand size deck, having that amount of power can be really handy.

Max is one of the cards from OP06 set, and basically he is the replacement of Promo Gordon. Promo Gordon is very expensive but not for Max who have the exact same effect. For people who doesn't know the effect, the effect is an Activate main. You may place this card to the bottom of the owner's deck to reduce 1 of your opponent's Character by 3k this turn. What's more since he is a 3k power base, we can use Betty Leader to power up Max and attack with him, then use the effect to reduce your opponent's Characters, so we won't be wasting cards that could attack.

Free Play

Another thing I like about this budget deck is that we have the ability to play Characters for free without needing the expensive cards to do so, and these two cards, both same Character does this job perfectly. OP05 Ivankov is an activate main effect, once per turn, if this Character has 7k or more power, play 1 Revolutionary Army Character with 5k power or less other than Ivankov from your hand. Now there are two ways to trigger this effect, either give Ivankov 2 DONs to make him a 7k beat stick, or use Belo Betty effect to power this card to make it a 7k power beat stick. Of course if you played Ivankov on the same turn, I wouldn't really waste Belo Betty on Ivankov as he won't be able to attack, unless you have 2 more Characters to power up.

Next we got OP06 Ivankov who only works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck and play 1 Revolutionary Army Character with 5k power or less. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. OP06 Ivankov is what I really like as Belo Betty uses your hand for the power up, but OP06 version lets you play Character from deck. Most of the cards in the deck are Revolutionary Army Characters, so you should be able to hit at least one of them, unless you are simply unlucky with the top cards. Not to mention, we can also play OP05 Ivankov with this effect as we don't have Ivankov restrictions, unlike OP05 version, so we might be able to play another Character for free in one turn.

Trigger Characters

Personally for this build, if you can run more Trigger Characters, the better the chances of filling up the field and reducing the need of playing Characters from your hand so you can save up to use Betty's Leader effect. But of course, luck with need to be involve in order to get these cards into the Life area as we do not have OP06 Hiyori in the deck, since this is a budget build. OP05 Kuma has one very simple effect, on play, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with 2k power or less. This is very easy to do thanks to the power reducers in the deck. The Trigger effect is if your Leader is multicoloured, play this card. Again, shouldn't be too difficult because Betty is a Red/Yellow Leader.

Lindbergh is very similar to OP05 Kuma, but instead of on play effect, he works when attacking. If this Character has 7k power or more, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with 3k power or less. 3k power is even easier to reach as we have some Characters that are able to reduce your opponent's Characters by 3k, so we could easily target 6k beat stick Characters. For the Trigger effect, you may trash 1 card from your hand, if your Leader is multicoloured, play this card. I'm not a big fan of losing a card from my hand to play a Character with Betty build, but if we can fill up the field, it means they will be ready to attack during your turn.

Satori is a vanilla with a Trigger effect, you may trash 1 card from your hand to play this card. Very similar to Lindburgh, except we don't need multicoloured Leader to work. But more importantly, Satori has the 2k Counter, so even if you don't play him, that 2k counter will be very handy. Honestly, I wouldn't hard play Satori unless I have to, I rather play something else, or make use of the DONs to make the Revolutionary Army Characters hit some deadly numbers, and save Satori in hand when you need to protect the Leader/Characters.

Kiku is amazing for a rare, although I do have a feeling, this one might jump in price if more and more yellow decks run this as a staple. Although the effect can easily be ignored, I'm mainly using her for the Trigger effect. The Trigger effect is if your opponent has 3 or less Life, play this card. This is very easy to do for an aggressive deck, although if you manage to see Kiku as your first Life, you may not be able to trigger the effect. The main effect works on KO, if your opponent has 3 or less Life, add 1 card from top of your deck to top of your Life. Now Betty Leader can power up Trigger Characters as well as Revolutionary Army, so if your opponents doesn't KO Kiku to prevent you from gaining a Life, they would have to use plenty of counters against Kiku or take the hit, as this build weakness is having lack of board presence.

The final Trigger Character is OP06 Nekomamushi (aka Cat Viper). Cat Viper has the exact same Trigger effect as Kiku, if your opponent has 3 or less Life, play this card. This way we don't need to use our hand to play Trigger Characters unlike Satori and Lindburgh, but the downside is definitely the amount of Life cards your opponents have. The main effect only works if you give Cat Viper 2 DONs. This Character can also attack your opponent's active Characters. This is extremely helpful if you want to remove Blockers, or even high power Characters by combining Betty's Leader power on top of Cat Viper effect. I think he will become 10k beat stick altogether if we combined the 2 DONs and the power bonus, which is definitely enough to take down a lot of Characters.

Revolutionary Army Supports

Now for the rest of the Revolutionary Army support. Betty is just a searcher, on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Revolutionary Army card other than Betty and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Very simple effect, but because she is a Revolutionary Army card, we can have a deadly 1 drop beat stick to attack your opponents.

OP06 Inazuma has one simple effect. If this Character has 7k or more power, this Character gains Banish. For people who don't know what Banish does, it basically trashes your opponent's Life ignoring their trigger effects. This can put a bit of pressure for your opponents which is why I replaced him over Rush Inazuma. You can run both if you want, but I do prefer this Inazuma to pressure your opponents in using up their counters in their hand, or they will lose a Life and won't be able to add that card to their hand.

I am running another searcher which is Revolutionary Army HQ, because sometimes, you can get too much non Revolutionary Army cards and triggering Betty Leader's effect will be very important to make some deadly attacks. The effect is an activate main, you may trash 1 card from your hand and rest this Stage. Look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Revolutionary Army card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Another main usage for this HQ card is that we can search for the key cards like Ivankov and Karasu, well, especially Karasu so finishing off your opponents will be a lot easier even for a budget deck.

Deck List

OP06 Betty

Explanation

There are some cards you can add like Amaru to rest your opponent's Blockers, Moscato for more Banish along with OP06 Inazuma. If you are within the budget, you could even try running O-Nami as her trigger effect is a removal, plus her main effect gives your Character Banish. But you need to watch out that adding too much non Revolutionary Army cards can hurt you when you use Betty Leader's effect even if we are running the Stage card that can replace those cards.

What you need to know is how to use Betty Leader's effect as she is not a Leader that can be use constantly per turn. In fact using her constantly per turn can cost you your defences as we are not running any Blockers. This is a full aggressive deck, focusing on taking your opponents down pretty easily. It is possible to finish off your opponents if they are at 2 Life and lack of Blockers, but this will require at least 2 Karasu to reduce your opponent's Leader by 2k. Plus the DONs and Betty power bonus, making each attacks very deadly.
