EB01 Red/Purple (Luffy) Deck Profile

ST10 Luffy is one of my favourite Leaders as I really like YOLO decks where we only survive with very few Life, but is it worth it? Unlike most Leaders, Luffy is a 6k beat stick, so your opponents will need DONs constantly for their 5k Leader/Characters in order to hit Luffy. Also one of the very few decks where we need 2 different secret rare in the build. A lot of other builds will only need 1 secret rare which is a lot easier for the wallet.

Ramp

Starting off with the ramp of the deck. The more you can ramp, the easier we can play our big cost Characters, especially if you can get to 8 DONs, then we can rely on Luffy Leader to work. EB01 Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, add 1 DON as active. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character base power becomes the same power as the select Character. So the more power your opponent has, the better Bon Clay could become a deadly beat stick.

Zoro-Juurou aka Zoro works the best with ST10 Luffy as we only start with 3 Life, easily triggering this effect. The effect works when attacking, if you have 3 or less Life, add 1 DON as active. The only downside to Zoro is that he is a 4k beat stick, so if you are not attacking 4k or less Characters, you will need to give him a DON or 2 to hit the magic number. Although you could swing with Zoro just to get the ramp, but I think hitting the magic number will be better.

OP05 Zala is in the build in case you need the extra ramp, but if you can get Zoro or Bon Clay then Zala will be useless aside from the 2k counter. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand to add 1 DON as rest. The Trigger effect is by returning 1 DON, you may play this card. I wouldn't use this Trigger effect in this build unless you need a Character on the field to attack with as this effect doesn't let you gain any DON or lose DONs.

Power

The power cards to power up your Leader. As you know we are low on Life, so if you can ramp and play this cards, they will be able to help you power up your Leader so you don't need to use as much Counters. Whitebeard have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, 1 of your Leader gains 2k power until the start of your next turn. Then, you cannot add Life cards to your hand with your own effect. This part of the effect doesn't matter as we are mainly aiming for the power up bonus. The second effect works when attacking, but you need to give 2 DONs to Whitebeard to work, KO up to 1 of your opponent's 3k power or less Characters.

ST10 Kid is nice to have as the effect works on play/when attacking, by returning 1 DON, 1 of your Leader gains 1k power until the start of your next turn. So if you have double Kid on the field, we could constantly power up our Leader by 2k, or having Kid and then playing Whitebeard, so the Leader would gain 3k power in one turn. Either way we do want to reduce the amount of counters needed, and force your opponents to use DONs to power up their cards.

Rush

Only 2 Rush Characters in this build, you could also run Zoro, but I don't know if its worth running more non Counter cards in the build. Fra-Nosuke aka Franky will need a DON to trigger his effect. If you have 8 or more DONs, this card gains Rush. Getting 8 or more DONs is definitely not difficult thanks to the number of ramp cards in the build. Although even if we are not using Franky, the 2k counter can come in handy especially with a 6k Leader like Luffy.

ST01 Luffy also need DONs to trigger his effect, but you will need 2 DONs instead of 1 unlike Franky. The effect works when attacking, your opponent cannot activate Blocker during this battle. This effect is very strong especially when we are going for the final push for game, we could literally put all the DONs onto Luffy and make your opponents use as much counters as possible to reduce their hand size.

Defences

Now we are talking about the Blockers and Event Counters for the deck. ST04 Queen has an on play effect, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. This effect is very simple as we get to increase our hand size whilst having a 6k Blocker on the field.

ST10 Law is very situational, but a lot of decks these days can build up a nice amount of hand size which is why I am maximising Law in the build. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, if your opponent has 7 or more cards in hand, trash 2 cards from your opponent's hand. Personally I think 7 cards is not hard to get unless your opponents are playing build which requires low hand size to work.

Radical Beam is an Event Counter, the counter effect is 1 of your Leader/Characters gains 2k power this battle. Then, if you have 2 or less Life that card gains an additional 2k power. This will mean, one of your card will get 4k power in total, and plus since we are starting with 3 Life, we only need to take 1 hit to trigger this requirement which is very easy to do. The Trigger effect is 1 of your Leader/Characters gains 1k power this turn. Yes, the power bonus from the trigger effect last one turn, so if you used Whitebeard or Kid, you could power up your Leader even more as that 1k power extra could make your opponents need more DONs for the magic number.

Guard Point is another Event Counter, but Radical Beam is definitely better when it comes to Counter effect. The counter effect is 1 of your Leader/Characters gains 3k power this battle. This is the same power as the 0 cost Counter Event, however, what I am aiming for is the Trigger effect. The Trigger effect is exactly the same as Radical Beam, 1 of your Leader/Characters gains 1k power this turn. This will increase the chances of hitting the trigger effect to power up the Leader.

Straw Hat Supports

Most of the cards in this build are mainly Straw Hat, but aside from Nami, the other cards doesn't require any Straw Hat in the type to work. OP01 Nami is a searcher, on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Straw Hat card other than Nami and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This is the best turn 1 play we could do in order to search for the key cards in this build.

OP05 Robin is a removal. On play, KO 1 of your opponent's 1k power or less Characters. I feel Robin will be very handy against 1k power or less Characters, especially against EB01 Bon Clay, that a lot of ramp decks will be running since he is 1k power. We are running lack of power reducers, so if we want to KO Characters with more than 1k power, we will need to rely on ST10 Jinbe in the build.

All the ramp are mainly set up for Nika Luffy. Nika Luffy have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, by returning 10 DONs, place all of your Characters except this card to the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, take an extra turn after this turn. The extra turn can really help, especially when we are going for the final push for game. The second effect is an activate main effect. Once per turn, by paying 1 DON, add 1 DON as active. This effect is mainly after you finished using Nika Luffy's on play effect, so we could ramp a few more if we need to.

ST10 Jimbei is an optional card we can use as you do not need to run him. I am running him because he is a Straw Hat plus the effect makes it easier for us to use cards like Robin and Whitebeard's removal effects. You will need to give Jimbei 1 DONs in order to trigger his effect. When attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Character power by 2k. Now you do not need to use this with your removal, as you could use Jimbei to attack a 5k rested Character to reduce them by 2k so Jimbei would hit the magic number 3k against those Characters. This just make it easier to attack beat sticks so we don't need to use our 5k or more beat stick on those Characters.

Explanation

With this build, you can use Counters early as we only start with 3 Life, so we don't really want to take damage early on, especially when those Characters are low power. We mainly want to take damage against high power Characters, unless you got Radical Beam in your hand and really need that 2 Life to trigger Radical Beam. Mainly you want to open up your hand with Nami or the ramp cards so we could get ramping as soon as possible.

Also to play Nika Luffy, you will need the right timing as using him early game could actually cost you. Remember, you will be losing the rest of the Characters just to get that extra turn, so during that extra turn, you want to finish off your opponents so they won't be able to survive the extra turn. Otherwise, you will have to rely on cards like Whitebeard and Kid to power up your Leader, and ST01 Luffy to bypass Blockers and swing for some damage.
