EB01 Black/Yellow (Kyros) Deck Profile

Kyros is a bit difficult to build because the Life gain cards are all high cost to do so, getting your opponent's Characters will be very easy thanks to the amount of cost reducers in the black card pool, but for yellow side of things, it might be difficult. I've only managed to add a splash of yellow, as the main build of the deck is definitely utilising the black side of things to make the deck work.

Cost Reducers

We have 7 different cards that can reduce your opponent's Characters cost. The more you can reduce, the easier you can reach to 0 and use Kyros's effect to KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Characters. First, we will start with 4 drop Kuzan who have two different effects. The first effect is just on play, draw a card. The second effect works when attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Character cost by 4 this turn. I do prefer having when attacking effect more than on play, but most likely Kuzan will be targeted by your opponent's attacks or card effects.

10 drop Kuzan is one of our main card we want to have on the field. 10 drop Kuzan also have 2 effects just like his 4 drop version. The first effect works during your turn, reduce your opponent's Character cost by 5 this turn. So if you managed to get two 10 drop Kuzan in play, we could basically give -10 to all your opponent's Characters and wouldn't need to worry about using other cost reducers. But that is only if you can get two 10 drops. The second effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Character. We are already reducing Character's cost by 5, so you can easily KO 5 cost Characters or less.

OP02 Tsuru works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn. The effect is simple, plus she has a 2k counter for defending, nothing else I can really say about this card beside being able to play for 1 DON.

Another 2k Counter Character is Toy Soldier, but unlike Tsuru, Toy Soldier's effect is an activate main, so you could use his effect before playing 10 drop Kuzan to remove 8 cost Characters from the field. The effect is you may trash this Character to reduce 1 of your opponent's Character cost by 3 this turn. 3 is a nice number, but since we are aiming for 0 cost, we will need to combine this effect with other cards to reach the number we need to KO Characters.

ST06 Hina only works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 4 this turn. The good thing about this is that she is a 5k beat stick once we used her effect, easily enough to attack 5k base cards. But the downside is that she doesn't have any counters, so if you want to use counters, she is not the ideal choice to have.

ST06 Helmeppo works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 3. Basically we will be doing the same cost reduction as Toy Soldier, but of course Toy Soldier being an activate main, give us a better advantage over Helmeppo on play effect. But being a 2 drop Character, he might come in handy especially combined with your other cost reducers in the build to reduce certain Characters to certain numbers.

Ice Age is an Event card, and personally, I think it is very important as we are aiming for low cost Characters to KO. The main effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Character cost 5. 5 is a lot especially if we have 10 drop Kuzan in play to reduce their Character cost by 10, but I think that will be overkill unless they have 10 drop Characters in play. The Trigger effect is KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. This wouldn't matter as the cost reducers does not affect your opponents on their turn, so we mainly aim for the main effect for Ice Age.

Removals

As we have plenty of cost reducers for specific reasons, as for removals, 4 will be enough, but you can add more to the build. EB01 T-Bone works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. 2 or less is not that difficult especially when you run plenty of cost reducers. But most importantly he has a 2k counter for a 5 drop, on top of the removal. More counters mean easier to defend, but because the deck have lack of room, I couldn't run 4 copies in the build.

OP02 Koby works on play, by trashing 1 card from your hand, KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. He is only 4k beat stick, but I am running him as I run OP05 Rebecca which let us play Koby for free from our hand since he is a 3 drop. However, you could run OP02 Akainu (Sakazuki) if you want the beat stick power plus Akainu can KO 5 cost or less Characters so you wouldn't need much cost reducers for that card.

OP04 Yamato works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with cost equal to the total Life of both players field. Then, if you have 1 or less Life, add 1 card from top of your deck to top of your Life. We do have cost reducers in this build so we could pretty much KO any Characters regarding the Life situation. Plus we would have 1 DON spare to play cards like Tsuru or Ice Age if we need to KO certain Characters.

Gedatsu also works amazing in this build but because T-Bone is released in EB01, I've decided to run both, it was really hard to decide which one to prefer as they both have pros and cons. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with a cost equal or less than the number of cards in your opponent's Life area. This wouldn't matter much as we've got cost reducers, so even if your opponent is at 0 Life, we can still KO something with Gedatsu effect, which is why he works amazing in black/yellow builds.

The Life

Here we have two cards that do something with your Life area. EB01 Shirahoshi is a nice 2 drop Blocker to have with an effect. When this Character is KO'd by your opponent's effects, add 1 card from top of your deck to top of your Life. There are a lot of removals people run these days, plus Shirahoshi being a Blocker makes your opponent thinks if they should KO her to give you a Life, or let her stay on the field so you could block one of your opponent's attacks. Gaining Life will help very much with Kyros's effects.

OP03 Sanji actually works very will in this build and I definitely prefer using Sanji over EB01 Viola. Sanji will need 2 DONs to trigger his effect. When attacking, you may add 1 card from top or bottom of your Life to your hand to add 1 card from top of your deck to top of your Life. This way we will be removing face up Life cards with face down cards as well as gaining hand size as we don't really have any Trigger effects in this build. Adding the 2 DONs, this will make Sanji a 5k beat stick for a 2 drop Character. Plus even if you don't play Sanji, you will have 2k counter to use during the counter step.

Free Play

Here we have 2 cards who can help you play Characters for free. OP05 Rebecca is a Blocker with an on play effect. Add one 3-7 cost black Character other than Rebecca from your trash to your hand. Then, play one 3 cost or less black Character from your hand rested. We do have a few choices to choose from like OP02 Koby, or ST06 Hina to trigger their on play effects. All for 4 DONs which is not bad at all, plus being a Blocker means we will be able to block 1 of your opponent's attacks.

OP06 Moria only works on play, choose one 4 cost or less Character and one 2 cost or less Character from your trash. Play 1 as active and the other as rest. The best thing about this effect is that it is not colour restricted like Rebecca, so we can choose some yellow Characters as well as black Characters for some effects. However, for the yellow Characters, there are not many key cards that are 4 cost or less like the black side of the deck.

Protection

Funny enough, both of these cards are Blockers with similar effects. OP02 Kizaru (Borsalino) has an effect that works on your opponent's turn. This Character gains 1k power and cannot be KO'd by effects. So it is a nice 4 drop 6k Blocker to stop your opponent's early attacks with their 5k beat stick. Of course there will be ways to get around this effect, especially when it comes to your turn.

This is also why I am running OP04 Sabo. Sabo is also a Blocker with an on play effect. None of your Characters can be KO'd by effects until the start of your turn. Then, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards from your hand. The hand filter can be nice especially when we have plenty of high drops in this build, but more importantly is Sabo can protect your entire field against KO effects, so you won't need to worry about your Characters getting KO'd when you attack your opponent's Life.

Deck List

EB01 Kyros

Explanation

I've tried to add as much cards as possible I need for this deck. There are some cards I've taken out because of lack of Counters in the build, so you will pretty much be losing out on the defensive side of things. You want to have a mix of heavy cost reducers, blockers and removals as Kyros's effect will not always trigger if we start with 4 Life.

Personally I want to run 4 T-Bone and 4 Gedatsu in the build, but the amount of high drop in this build is very high, and that will make the deck more of a mid to late game deck where you can pop off. This is why I've reduced the numbers. If you can get your cost reducers going, KOing your opponent's Characters will not be difficult at all. You could run 7 drop Big Mom, but that card will come at a risk, not only she is another high cost Character, but your opponents may not give you the Life gain you need for Kyros's effects, which is why I've mainly focused on the black side of things for this build.
