OP07 Purple (Luffy) Deck Profile

Purple decks got one card update, but that card only works for very specific decks, and not all purple decks will be running that card. Luffy is quite fun, especially with the way we return DONs and ramp up the DONs, they will make perfect use of the deck. The deck have a lot of ways to stall as we don't really want to take Life cards for Luffy if we are desperate for the effect.

Ramp

Personally, you will still need ramp cards in the build in order to play big drop Characters. We can't always rely on Luffy's effect, especially when we have low health, it won't be worth it for that extra ramp. EB01 Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, add 1 DON as active, very simple. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character base power becomes the same as the selected Character. So the higher the power, the better for Bon Clay to become a deadly beat stick.

Paulie is a very situational card because you need 7 DONs altogether in order to use his effect. The effect works on play, by paying 2 DONs, add 1 DON as active. Then, if you have 8 more DONs on the field, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. The ramp is also part of the 2 DONs requirement, which is why we need 7 DONs altogether, otherwise he will just be a plain 5 drop vanilla

OP05 Zala has a very simple effect, the effect works on play, trash 1 card from your hand to add 1 DON as rest. This is not good as playing DONs as active, but we will still get the extra ramp. The trigger effect is by returning 1 DON, play this card. You might need to use this if you want extra beat stick on the field, otherwise, I mainly keep Zala in hand for the 2k counter and the on play effect.

Removals

We have all sorts of removals in this build, from returning DONs to KOing Characters as we as forcing your opponents to discard their hand. Magellan have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, your opponents return 1 DON back to their DON deck. Early game, Magellan is very useful as the first effect could slow your opponents down. The second effect works on your opponent's turn, when this Character is KO'd, your opponents returns 2 DONs back to their DON deck. There is good and bad thing about this effect, the good news is that your opponents wouldn't try to KO Magellan, but the bad news is once they have 10 DONs, this effect is pretty much useless.

ST04 Kaido works amazing when you have too much DONs on the field, and will need to reduce the DONs so you could trigger certain cards in the build. The effect works on play, by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Character. Then, this Character gains Rush. Not bad for a 9 drop Character, especially having the Rush ability on top means we could swing right away with this card.

I am also running ST04 King so we could remove more of your opponent's Characters. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. King only cost 6 DONs to remove a Character unlike Paulie who needs 7 DONs, plus King is also a 7k beat stick for 6 DONs which is not bad when we need beat sticks in the build.

Lastly ST10 Law is a different type of removal as we focus on discarding your opponent's hand instead so they don't have too much of an advantage. Law is a Blocker with an on play effect, by returning 1 DON, if your opponents have 7 or more cards in hand, trash 2 cards from your opponent's hand. Early to mid game, Law is very effective on top of being a 4 cost Blocker we can play early.

Defensive

Now we have the defensive cards since we want to protect the Leader from taking hits so we could use the ramp ability. OP05 Kid is a Blocker with an effect that works on your turn and once per turn, when a DON on your field is returned, add 1 DON as active. Kid will be playing an important role in the build, not only he reduces the amount of DONs we return, but also give us a DON active so we could use that DON to play other cards.

OP07 Sanji works the best when we return plenty of DONs back to DON deck, and that is what this deck does when it comes to returning DONs, easily triggering Sanji's effect. Sanji is just a Blocker but with an effect, if the number of DONs is at least 2 less than your opponent's field, reduce this cost by 3. So instead of paying the full 6 cost, we could play Sanji for 3 cost instead.

ST04 Queen is a Blocker with an on play effect, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. On the bright side, Queen does gives you +1 card in hand, but it may not feels a difference unless we play multiple Queen on the field.

ST10 Kid helps to protect our Leader from getting hit with 5k numbers, but we can use this effect as an attack whilst also defending. The effect works on play/when attacking, by returning 1 DON, 1 of your Leader gains 1k power until the start of your next turn. If you can get 2 Kid on the field, we could give the Leader 2k power constantly, forcing your opponents to either attack Kid or using DONs to hit your Leader.

Jet Gatling is just a 0 cost Event Counter, the counter effect is the same as any colours. You may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader/Characters gains 3k power this battle. The trigger effect is just a ramp effect, add 1 DON as active. You might need this, you might not, it really depends how desperate you need the ramp to play your cards.

The Siblings

Finally, the last part of the deck is running the siblings. Although I am tempted to replace them, even though they can set up 2 attacks, my luck of drawing them is just bad, and by the time I got them, I need counters to stop my opponents attacks. ST04 Ulti works on play, by returning 1 DON, play one 4 cost Page One from your hand. Otherwise, we could use Ulti for 2k counter if we don't have Page One in hand.

Deck List

OP07 Luffy

Explanation

The deck work as any normal purple Luffy decks, but this time I focus more on returning DON side so we could use OP07 Sanji more efficiently. Even if you can't play Sanji, the 2k counter will come in handy as we need to stop some attacks at the beginning to use Luffy's ramp effect. We want the early ramp as soon as we hit 3 or more so we could play 5 cost Characters as soon as possible. It is only the beginning of the stage where we need to protect Luffy, during mid to late game, you can do what you want since we just want that early ramp.

You have Magellan, Paulie, King and Kaido who can remove your opponent's cards to slow them down. I do think during the opening hand, if we can get Bon Clay or Zala, we will be all set since we could ramp as fast as possible to play high cost Characters. They will still be useful during the late game, especially when you play Kaido, losing 5 DONs, so you would need to recover the lost DONs.
