EB01 Purple (Luffy) Deck Profile

I have no idea if I should called this an update as I've only added 1 new card for this build from EB01 set. But I guess I don't think I've posted an OP06 version of this build, so it is a bit different from OP05 build. Although because of the lack of room, I have to take out some vanillas for effects, unless you want more power in the build. Some of the cards in this build can be replaced with vanilla cards, so we will have more power to attack your opponent's cards.

Ramp

Now we have the ramp cards, but Luffy Leader can also ramp, these cards just increases the speed to reach to 10 DONs easily. EB01 Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, add 1 DON as active. The first effect is very simple, but we do want to aim for the second effect. When attacking, choose 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character base power becomes the selected Character's power. So the more power your opponent has, the better the beat stick Bon Clay becomes.

Paulie only works on play, by paying 2 DONs, add 1 DON as active. Then, if you have 8 or more DONs on your field, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. So if we want the full effect, we need to get 7 DONs in order for Paulie to work. This shouldn't be too difficult as we've got plenty of ramp in this build to get up to 7 DONs with ease.

OP05 Kid is a Blocker with an effect that works on your turn. Once per turn, when a DON is returned to your deck, add 1 DON as active. We are running plenty of cards that returns DONs back to deck, so having Kid on the field can really help to reduce the amount of DONs being returned to deck. Plus we could have that 1 extra DON to play another high cost Character on the field.

Removals

What I like for this build is the type of removals we got. Not only we could KO your opponent's Characters, but we also running card like Magellan who can return your opponent's DON. Magellan has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, your opponent returns 1 DON back to their DON deck. This can slow your opponent's plays down. The second effect works on your opponent's turn. When this card is KO, your opponent return 2 DONs back to their DON deck. This effect is very effective during the early turns, but once they get to 10 DONs, then this effect will be useless as they could get that 2 DONs back at the start of their turn.

ST04 Kaido only have one effect which works on play, by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. This Character gains Rush. So not only we are KOing your opponent's Characters, but the Rush ability can be really helpful, whether you are attacking your opponent's Characters or Leader with Kaido. Plus he is a 10k beat stick which is a nice number to force your opponents to use plenty of counters from their hand if they don't have Blockers.

Ragnarok is a nice removal card to have from EB01 set. The main effect is by returning 1 DON, KO 1 of your opponent's 8 cost or less Characters. This only cost you 5 DONs to play, and 8 cost or less is a lot of Characters we can target unless your opponents only have 9 cost or more on the field. The Trigger effect is add 1 DON as active, but most likely we will be keeping Ragnarok for the removal, unless we are desperate for the ramp.

Hand Destruction

Like I mentioned before, we got all sorts of removal, and we also got hand destruction to remove your opponent's big hand size, if they search too many cards. OP01 Drake only works on play, by returning 1 DON, your opponent discard 1 card from their hand. This is not bad especially when your opponent has low hand size, that is when Drake becomes very effective. Plus he also have 2k counter if we are not playing him for 5 DONs.

ST10 Law is a Blocker that works on play. On play, by returning 1 DON, if your opponent has 7 or more cards in hand, discard 2 cards from your opponent's hand. Whilst X Drake is more late game use, Law is more of an early game use, since during the early turns, your opponent will be doing plenty of searching as well as adding cards from Life area to hand, increasing their hand size. That is where Law's effect kicks in to prevent your opponents from getting large hand size early turn.

Draw

What I like about these draw power cards is that they will increase your hand size instead of just being a hand filter. OP03 Kalifa works when attacking, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. Well she works great on low power Characters as we would be able to get that draw power, but if you want to hit some high power Characters, then you will need to give her some DONs. Although she has a 2k counter, so even if you don't play Kalifa, the 2k counter will come in handy.

4 drop Reiju only works when you have equal or less DONs than your opponents, and this might be difficult until both players get 10 DONs on the field, but if you are lucky enough, you might be able to use her effect early. The effect works on play, if you have equal or less DONs than your opponent's field and you have 5 or less cards in your hand, draw 5 cards.

ST04 Queen is a Blocker and has the exact same effect as Kalifa, but instead of when attacking, the effect works on play. By returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. So if you have Kalifa on the field as well as Queen, we can easily draw plenty of cards in one go. Kalifa only needs to be on the field for a turn to lose the summon sickness whilst we can play Queen to strengthen the defences on the field.

The Siblings

As we've got ramp and draw power, we can run these two cards to spam the field with ease. ST04 Ulti works on play, by returning 1 DON, play one 4 cost or less Page One from you hand. Well, you will need to take time if you want to get the right cards, but being able to play 2 Characters for 4 DONs is worth the effect. Even if you have too many Ultis in your hand, she has a 2k counter as we won't be playing all 4 in a game, unless somehow you can pull it off.

Events

More Events we are running in the build and both of them are Event Counters to aim for more power during the counter step. Jet Gatling is a 0 cost Event and all colours will have this effect. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader/Character gains 3k power this battle. The only difference will be their Trigger effects, and the Trigger effect is add 1 DON as active. Just like Ragnarok, if you are desperate for the ramp, then feel free to use this effect, if you are not, then the counter effect will come in handy.

Blast Breath is nice to have especially when you only have that 1 extra DON active and nothing else. This is where we can play this counter card during your opponent's attacks. The counter effect is by returning 1 DON, 1 of your Leader/Character gains 4k power this battle. This is not bad as we only returning 1 DON which can easily be recovered with our ramp cards, so a very power Event for this build.

Explanation

Personally, we've got pretty much everything in this build, ramp, removal, free play and hand destruction. The only thing I guess we are missing is the power, but I guess if we can spam multiple Characters in one turn, power wouldn't be as important. Well EB01 Bon Clay can act as a major power card depending on the amount of power on your opponent's field.

The only thing I would do in this deck compare to other builds is that I would use counters early because you want to use Luffy's ramp effect once you get 3 or more DONs. The more Life you got, the more you could use Luffy's effect and the amount of DONs return back to deck won't matter as we can easily recover those back like playing ST04 Kaido. But you could run Nika Luffy in this build, however, I won't recommend it as you only get an extra turn, and Nika Luffy requires timing to finish off your opponents on that turn.
